Choy Gar - Jon Tow - Fierce Salute Act  
  Salute Act Represents external body movements but internal breathing patterns for basis of Southern Family. Developing the basic stances for strong bone marrow and muscles. Start of training for development of Iron Body.
Lee Gar - Wu Dip Kuen - Butterfly Act
  Butterfly Act Represents soft external strength with the combination of fast and slow attacks. This develops the flow of the chi guided by the forms short and long striking methods in fighting.
 
Lau Gar - Won Hop Kuen - Combination Act  
  Combination Act Represents the external strength for stances and movement of the form. It enhances the breathing for internal development in higher sets, besides changing positions rapidly for development of leg and hand skills.  
 
 
Mawk Gar - Sil Ying Kuen - The Blackbird Act  
Blackbird Act Represents the internal strength for Iron Hand skills with controlled breathing. This develops the eye and hand skill for speed and accuracy for cutting through an opponents attack.
 
 
Hung Gar - Goon Yum Jerm - Goddess Palm Act  
  Palm Act Represents the highest form of the families both internal and external strength. This is a mind and body development through breathing and body movements. Controlling your opponent by short and long attack with up rooting their center and throwing them.  
     
  Fut Gar - Sil Sop Ji - Small Cross Act  
  Small Cross Act Represents the basis for all the foundation for the entire 5 Families. It is part of the 5 and the second form to be taught. It is from the famlily Choylifut which is for long range.  
     
  Southern Five Animals (Ng Ying Ga)  
 
Tiger (Hu Xing) Fu Ying Kuen  
  Represents external strength. The Tiger's movements are overpowering and strong. Tiger training builds tendons and bones, and strengthens the spine and neck. Tiger uses it's weight and mass to attack.
   
Dragon (Long Xing) Long Ying Kuen
 

Represents internal strength. The Dragon's movements are soft and circular, similar tai chi chuan. The Dragon builds the Spirit, and uses it's whole body to attack or defend.

 

 
     
Leopard (Bao Xing) Bao Ying Kuen  
  Represents external strength. The Leopard's attacks have loose whipping power. Leopard builds the skin, tendon, muscle and bone. It's attacks are more powerful and penetrating.  
     
Snake (She Xing) Say Ying Kuen  
 

Represents internal strength and chi. The Snake's movements are soft and coiling. Snake builds the internal energy and chi. It's attacks are relaxed, releasing chi upon impact.

 
     
Crane (He Xing) Hok Ying Kuen  
  Represents internal and external strength. Crane's attacks are circular and end with quick exploding power. The Crane builds muscles and tendons (flexibility), while developing Jing (essential energy).
